Three point turn

The good news: LAX renovations seem to be about done. The place looks way better than the last time I passed through, and the United Club is about as good as it gets with United. More food options than I’ve seen at any to date, and plenty of space. I would like flying into Phoenix a lot more if the rental car center wasn’t a country mile away, but it’s a pleasant airport, and they have a decent United Club as well. Thinking that may be a fairly new addition.

The ugly: “Dear United – please retire the 757 fleet flying out of EWR to the west coast, and puh-lease stop calling it premium service!” The planes are tired, and I’ll go to the grave never having weaseled out an upgrade to one of those nifty lie-flat beds. Still no United Club at SMF, which seems strange to me given the number of departures. Nice remake on the terminal, but no lounge? Really?

Creeping up on 1.5  million miles, but I don’t think I’ll make it this year. Not quite.
